February Play Reading: “Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them” by A. Rey Pamatmat
Join us for a staged reading of this powerful and darkly tender coming-of-age play.
Set in an isolated farmhouse, the story follows 16-year-old Kenny and his fiercely independent 12-year-old sister Edith, left largely to fend for themselves. As Kenny struggles to hold their fragile world together, Edith’s uncompromising toughness triggers a crisis that forces them both to grow up faster than they should.
Premiered in the USA in 2011, Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them is written by A. Rey Pamatmat, long-time Co-Director of the Ma-Yi Writers Lab and an acclaimed playwright and television writer.
You are warmly invited to read along or simply listen and enjoy.
