                    Cornelia Ziegler at the Semi-Circle

Cornelia Ziegler was born in Croydon, south London. She attended the Guildford and Kingston Schools of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich where she studied painting, illustration and graphics.

In 1969 she moved to Bern and in 1972 came to Basel to work as a film graphic artist and animator.

Since 1978 Cornelia has been a freelance illustrator and chronicler of the city of Basel capturing many moving moments in the life and times of the city and its citizens. She is well known for her annual calendars which she has produced since 1987 and which feature aspects of Basel life.

Her participation in theatre groups in Basel in the 1970’s and ‘80’s  included an association with the Semi-Circle when she attended a number of rehearsals and performances in the 1970’s, ‘80’s and again in the 2000’s.

Cornelia has donated her portfolio of drawings to The Semi-Circle and the full collection is available for members to view on request.

Further information regarding Cornelia can be found on her website here.

The plays and associated samples of the drawings have been provided as albums and are listed below. Where possible the drawings have been linked to the plays’ characters and the actors who played them. Any mistakes are entirely of my own making, and I would be pleased to be corrected!
