About Us

The Semi-Circle Basel is a modern amateur theatrical community for actors, directors, stage managers, crew and more. We believe that being involved in the performing arts builds community – especially important in an increasingly disconnected world. We showcase amateur theatrical talent, through productions that entertain, inspire and sometimes challenge.

“ We look forward to seeing you at one or more of our performances”

We are pleased to announce the cast of Steel Magnolias — Robert Harling’s beloved play set in a small-town Louisiana beauty salon in the 1980s. Six women gather there, funny and fierce and utterly real, navigating the joys and heartbreaks of ordinary life with a warmth that never lets go. Part comedy, part tearjerker, it is a portrait of female friendship and the quiet strength that holds a community together through the best and worst of times. Adapted into the celebrated 1989 film starring Sally Field, Julia Roberts, and Dolly Parton, it remains one of the most cherished stories on the stage. Join us in Basel this June as our cast brings these unforgettable characters to life.

Community for actors, directors and more...

We develop future talent for roles both on and off stage through mentoring, practical workshops and hands-on theatrical opportunities. While our performances are in English, they include translations of plays in other languages. We showcase plays ranging from the classics to more modern pieces. And while the stage is our first love, we also bring works to life through film. Every month there’s an opportunity to get involved. See our What’s On page.
